Face special issues:

1. Rarely have family to care for them

2. Some care assistants are influenced by homophobia from their religion

3. Care housing is often focused on couples

4. Are invisible to, or unwanted by, some younger LGBTQ+ people and their organizations

5. Have difficulty finding like-minded support

6. Often face a self-identity challenge – what does it mean to be gay or lesbian when sexuality declines?

7. There is new pressure to conform to heterosexual identity in later life, for example, some retreat from community when the only contact is heterosexual

In fact, we do not know all the special issues for later life LGBTQ+ people, and it needs more research. See the Growing Older link above
